During this year, Lodge Burnside has committed to support The Homicide Victims Support Group [Grace's Place] as our principal charity for 2017-18. Grace's Place is named in honour of Grace Lynch, Anita Cobby's mother.
It is wonderful to report that we have raised $3,000.00 we set as our goal, and we have been matched in this amount by MasoniCare; so we are in a position to present a cheque for $6,000.00 to this worthy cause.
Accordingly, we have set aside our Regular Meeting Night in August 2 to make this presentation at our Festive Board, to which the Ladies are also invited. Our special guests on that evening from this Charity; aside from Anita Cobby's sister and family, will be:
The Executive Director of Grace's Place as well as the Chair of Grace's Place Support Group.
The Police Trauma Support Group and the Chairman of the Parramatta/Hills District Retired Police Association.
A 'power point' presentation will be given on the night to enlighten all on the purpose and function of Grace's Place to the Homicide Victims Support Group.
Our Business Meeting in August will consist of General Business and a short address by the Lodge's Educational Officer, with the aim of closing the Lodge by 7:00 PM. While the Business Meeting takes place, drinks and nibbles will be available for the Ladies and other visitors.
